A pro EQ you play — with an assistant built in.
AURORA is a dynamic parametric EQ built around one idea: your hands should touch the sound. Double-click the live spectrum to drop a band, drag its glowing node to move it, scroll to open or tighten the Q — up to 24 bands, eight shapes, cut slopes from a gentle 6 dB/oct to a vertical Brickwall. No menus, no typing numbers: the curve is the interface.
Colour belongs to the signal — cool blues in the lows, hot reds in the highs — so the band you touch lights up and the rest of the chrome recedes. Flip any band to dynamic and it leans in only when the frequency does: de-essing a vocal, taming a resonant snare, adding air on demand. Work in stereo, mid-side or left-right with an analyzer that splits to match, across three phase modes — zero-latency, an analog-matched Natural, and true linear phase.
And when you want a head start, Smart Ops is the assistant most EQs make you pay extra for: match a reference curve, hunt and tame resonances, de-ess, auto-bracket with high and low cuts, and unmask one track against another — one click each, every move fully editable after. It's a $129-class EQ, and it's the free flagship of the 13x rack.
Real plugin. Real moves.
No mockups. Every frame below is the shipping build — this is what loads the second you open AURORA.
01 · Smart OpsAn assistant built into the EQ.
Match a reference, de-resonate, de-ess, auto HP/LP and unmask one track against another. Press LEARN while the audio plays and AURORA makes the move — then hands you every band, fully editable.
- Match · De-resonate · De-ess · Unmask
- One click each — no second plugin
- Every move stays fully editable after
02 · Dynamic EQEQ that moves with the mix.
Flip any band to dynamic and it leans in only when the frequency does — a full sidechain detector, Peak or RMS, threshold, ratio, knee and a signed range. De-ess a vocal, tame a snare, add air on the breaths.
- Threshold · ratio · knee · signed range
- Peak / RMS · internal or external sidechain
- Cross-track unmasking, band by band
03 · Stereo & Mid-SideStereo, Mid-Side or Left-Right.
Work the whole image or split it. The analyzer splits to match — Mid in white, Side in violet — so you can widen the sides and tighten the centre on one curve. Place any band on stereo, L, R, M or S.
- Stereo · Mid-Side · Left-Right
- Analyzer splits to match the mode
- Per-band placement: St · L · R · M · S

Where AURORA earns its place.
Mixing
Surgical cuts and musical boosts on one live curve — cut what you see, then let Smart Ops de-resonate the mud in a click.
Vocals
Dynamic bands de-ess and add air that only opens on the breaths, never on the whole take.
Mastering
Linear-phase mode, mid-side control and gentle character for transparent tone-shaping on the 2-bus.
Cleanup
Unmask a vocal against a busy beat and hunt resonances out of a room recording — without a second plugin.
Shape it. A / B it.
Same source, loudness-matched, one toggle. Hear the spectrum open up — then watch the curve that did it, glowing on the live analyzer.
◇ Same take, same loudness — only AURORA changes. The curve is illustrative.

Is AURORA really free?
Yes — AURORA is free with no license key, no account and no trial limit. It's the free flagship of the 13x rack; the paid instruments and effects keep the lights on.
Is AURORA a good free alternative to FabFilter Pro-Q?
It covers much of the same ground — a live spectrum, up to 24 dynamic bands, mid/side and linear-phase — plus a one-click Smart Ops assistant, for free. Pro-Q is more mature and cross-platform today; AURORA is Windows-first with macOS coming.
What formats and systems does AURORA support?
VST3 and CLAP on Windows 10/11 (64-bit), with a macOS build coming. It loads in any VST3/CLAP DAW — FL Studio, Ableton, Bitwig, Cubase, Reaper and more.
What can Smart Ops do?
One click each: match a reference curve, hunt and tame resonances, de-ess, auto high-/low-cut bracket, and unmask one track against another — every move stays fully editable afterward.
Does AURORA add latency?
None in Zero-latency and analog-matched Natural modes. True linear-phase mode reports its delay compensation to the host so everything stays in sync.
They’re built to sit together.
One warm↔cold interface language across the whole rack. Add a piece, or take the Complete Collection.
