The best free EQ for Bitwig Studio
Bitwig is the DAW that did the most to push CLAP, the open plugin format, and it runs the same on Windows, macOS and Linux. Its EQ+ device is quick and clean for static shaping. For moves that react to level - de-essing, taming a resonance that comes and goes, ducking a frequency against another track - a free dynamic EQ is the natural addition.
EQ+ vs a dynamic EQ
EQ+ gives you eight bands, a spectrum and per-band mid/side - plenty for tone-shaping. Its bands don't respond to level, though. You can build level-reactive moves in Bitwig with Multiband FX and a compressor, or with modulators, but a dynamic EQ does it on a single narrow band, placed exactly where the problem is.
Why load it as CLAP
Bitwig hosts VST3 and CLAP side by side. With CLAP, parameter automation and modulation reach the plugin with sample accuracy, and Bitwig's modulators can drive the plugin's parameters directly. If a plugin ships both formats, CLAP is the one to pick in Bitwig.
- Settings → Locations: check that your CLAP and VST3 folders are listed, and add custom ones if needed.
- Bitwig rescans on startup; the plugin appears in the browser under its developer.
- Plug-ins run in a sandbox by default, so a crashing plugin doesn't take the session down.
- On Linux, Bitwig loads VST3 and CLAP but not LV2.

Does Bitwig have a dynamic EQ?
